Close to 100 maternity and neonatal (MatNeo) staff from across the Oxford AHSN region and beyond got together in person for the first time in three years at a shared learning event organised by the Oxford Patient Safety Collaborative (PSC) on 8 March – International Women’s Day.

The wide-ranging programme highlighted improvements in the care of pregnant women and their babies achieved through system-wide collaboration informed by parents and families. The conference was organised by Eileen Dudley, Oxford PSC MatNeo Safety Improvement Programme (SIP) lead.
She said: “It was wonderful to get together after such a long time.

“We had representation from all corners of our region – Berkshire, Buckinghamshire, Oxfordshire, Frimley and Milton Keynes – as well as colleagues from further afield including the Shrewsbury & Telford hospital trust and our counterparts at the Wessex PSC/AHSN.”

Feedback was positive with the conference described as ‘brilliant’, ‘innovative’ and ‘inspiring’. There was lots of engagement on Twitter too. Michelle East, Lead Midwife, Governance and Quality at Buckinghamshire Healthcare and one of the contributors on the day, posted: “Feel very lucky to be part of this amazing team and all those that work on the #preterm birth project. Brilliant day at the @PS_Oxford shared learning event, lots of great discussion. Couldn’t think of a better way to celebrate #IWD2023“.
