Accelerator
From 2019-2022 Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley ran an Accelerator programme providing a unique launchpad for innovators and early-stage companies, helping get their ideas translated into clinical practice in the NHS. The programme helped more than 120 start-up companies build and test robust value propositions and create viable business models, as well as identifying their key stakeholders within the healthcare and life sciences environments. Delivery partners BioCity/We Are Pioneer Group (WAPG) awarded more than £200,000 of in-kind investment and 12 months of business support to the winners. Programme participants went on to apply their learning to secure around £2 million in additional funding and create new jobs.

Point of care testing
Health Innovation Oxford and Thames Valley has facilitated many successful NHS-industry partnerships in diagnostics which have had real impact on the local health and care system, leading to fewer hospital admissions and better pre-hospital diagnosis. A key area has been in relation to point of care testing. Examples of developments in point of care testing can be found in this brochure published in 2021.
